Villa Tamahunga For Sale. After 12 very happy years here we have decided to make some major lifestyle changesSubmitted by Valeside on Wednesday, December 07, 2011
Villa Tamahunga For Sale. http://www.gardenstovisit.co.nz/garden.aspx?gardenid=130 After 12 very happy years here we have decided to make some major lifestyle changes and for this reason we are putting up for sale part of our property which includes the villa, the terrace gardens, the small vineyard, the olive and macadamia grove and fruit orchard (about 1.5 hectares in total). We have created a new lot for ourselves on the lower part of the property (about 2 hectares) that includes restored native wetland, new subtropical gardens and some native bush. Title will be available early in the new year and we intend building a small, discrete, simple but stylish dwelling on the lower block. The aim... we get to stay in a place we love but make our future economically sustainable. The property is for sale by negotiation and our excellent agent is Marie-Dominique Lennan from LJHooker, Warkworth, so please direct all enquiries as to pricing and otherwise to her. A couple of years ago one of our customers (a major Louisiana Iris hybridiser in Australia - Iris Haven - Heather & Bernard Pryor) ) asked Nancy if she'd consider having a new cultivar named for her. Submitted by Valeside on Sunday, December 04, 2011
A couple of years ago one of our customers (a major Louisiana Iris hybridiser in Australia - Iris Haven - Heather & Bernard Pryor) ) asked Nancy if she'd consider having a new cultivar named for her. Nancy was of course honoured & so the complicated American registration process was commenced. This was successful & we recently received two rhizomes of the new iris (via their NZ agent)—all very exciting for Nancy! She has already created a little 'bog garden' down by our outside bath & the plants are comfortably ensconced in it. Won't see the flowers until next year but if you’re interested you can have a preview by going to: www.irishaven.com.au/Page15.htm See photo at lower right of this page.. or
http://www.gardenstovisit.co.nz/garden.aspx?gardenid=100
The iris is a mid lavender self. Standards with lime line signals and white luminata area around. Falls with a raised, elongated white steeple signal and lime line signals with white luminata area around the line crest. Style arms pale lemon-lime, pale lavender tips. Highly ruffled and rounded flower.

The Kerikeri Rotary New World Garden Safari is now an established event in the area and is our major fund raising activitySubmitted by Valeside on Tuesday, November 15, 2011
The Garden Safari was very successful with 18 never-been-seen before gardens presented. We had over 800 participants and raised over $23,000 which goes back into our community via the projects our Rotary Club undertakes. We held a scarecrow competition this year and 53 businesses contributed by making a scarecrow and displaying it outside/inside their business for the two weeks leading up to the Safari. It was the end of the school holidays so we ran a competition for the children to find all the scarecrows. A great weekend, lots of fun and a good result. Kind regards Vicki

Outstanding business and lifestyle opportunity.Submitted by on Sunday, October 02, 2011
Set upon
1.7 flat hectares of prime Kumeu black peat and within the equestrian area that
has proved so popular to buyers wanting smaller acerage is one gem stone that
shines out from the rest. It shines because amongst the many there are only a
few that deliver real income in the area through tourism and wedding activity
in a way that makes the hourly rate exceptional. This lifestyle property is of
course Willow Reach a boutique wedding venue that offers exclusive
accommodation, garden setting photography and garden venue hire to tour groups.
In this way you have an opportunity to buy into the business at the price of a
lifestyle block which delivers all the chattels to continue an existing and
highly profitable business. The land has supported a number of horses in
the past but today is host to three character filled Donkeys that are available
with the home. The land also has a range of outbuildings that are extensively
used for photography and garden tours, capturing unique glades and environments
similar to a movie set.
Filtered
bore water, raised bed gardens, generous outbuildings, extensive decking and
hard landscaping makes this property an absolute must to view and a great
proposition for a couple wanting to own a lifestyle and a business. For a
private viewing phone Graham McIntyre on 0276 320421 or 412 9602.

My Profile, Jacquelyn Jamieson/LudlamSubmitted by Valeside on Wednesday, May 25, 2011
Hi from Jacquelyn Jamieson (nee Ludlam) the originator of this “Gardens to Visit” Website. I am a Stratford Taranaki girl, who caught my passion for gardening... from my father Jack Ludlam. All 5 generations of the New Zealand Ludlam's worked with the land and fed their families from extensive vegetable patches. I still can’t look at broad beans! As a hairdresser who trained in Christchurch I was taught the elements of design and how to turn something ordinary into something quite spectacular. It was only a small step to transfer these principles into the world of gardens and landscaping. In Auckland I turned a sloping windswept 1.5 acres on Point View Drive into the well known “Valeside” with rock features, paths, subtropical's, a fernery, banks of succulents, orchids and specimen trees. This property has now been sold and I am currently re-establishing my garden in pots & tubs in Howick. Gardenstovisit is the result of many requests from fellow gardeners to set up a site for gardens of New Zealand.
