The Garden A long sealed driveway planted with hosta in the shade and iris and peonies in the sunny areas. Handsome Rhododendrons of all ages and sizes are on show throughout the garden. Egmont stone and matching pavers planted with mondo grass sets off an area that serves as a petanque court. Red Berberis and ‘Little Bo Peep’ roses edge some of the gardens. A great vegetable garden is planted each year and tended by both. The Rasberries have become Colins hobby. The fruit trees are Junes department and the Feijoas are Colins after the cows have dried off. |
The GardenerJune and Colin have lived here all their married life, romantically planted rhododendron each year to mark their anniversary. Hence rhodos of all ages are in the garden.
Bark gardens became a neccessity when those mowing the lawns defaulted because there were too many trees to mow around. This area subsequently became the favourite hosta patch, and these hostas give a feeling of peace in the garden. Where this looked bare in the winter hellebores have been planted.
So you get the feel how this gardened e-volved.
Now our three sons' have moved on Colin mows the lawns once again and does other jobs as June requests. |
