The GardenTuscany on Redoubt is a low maintenance garden due to the large area so we have planted a mixture of sub tropical's, natives and ever greens. There are three raised vegetable planters, several fruit trees that supply the family with all year round fresh produce.
We wanted to create a home for all types of birds, our favourites being the Roselle’s, fail tail’s and tui’s.
Due to the contour of the land, the garden is divided into three areas. The home and outdoor living area where our family enjoy a BBQ, spa, wood fired pizza oven, water feature, decks and crazy paving.
The banks that lead down to the arena are heavily planted and are retained with hundreds of tons of local blue stone. There is also a pathway winding down through the bank to the arena. This area has a huge back drop and shelter belt of ever green pines which makes it suitable for weddings and small functions and does have vehicle access.
Although work is still in progress, and the garden was started in 2006 we have turned a bare paddock into something we love and want to develop further in the future.

The GardenerMy husband Sanjay and I have jointly designed and created the garden after buying a bare patch of land in 2006. Sanjay is a dentist who has been in practice for over 20 years in Pukekohe. As for myself (Anita) I am a full time artist and been painting and creating for the past 20 years. Creating and planting is something we both love doing and has enabled us to create a rewarding project. |
