Originally a dry, arid, forgotten piece of glacial terrain.
Now 'The Paddock" has been transformed into a one-acre country-style garden. It is Blessed with a beautiful borrowed landscape of Mountains and hills for a backdrop.
In the past 10 years, the property has been planted with Evergreen shrubs, both Native and Exotic around the perimeter for shelter from the Nor' west, and a garden established inside this area.
The garden is a mix of items gathered over the years, both plants and rustic treasures from the past, with plantings to provide interest all year round, mixing texture and colour.
In the Spring, the garden comes alive with a large variety of bulbs including Daffodils, Fritillarias, Muscari and Tulips, mixed with Iris', Rhododendrons, Blossoms and Cornus.
These are followed with Peony's, Roses, Perennials, Lavender and Lilies in the Summer, and lots of beautiful Central Otago colour in the Autumn.
Included in the garden are a variety of food growing areas, a potager framed with espalier apples, a large tunnel house, a productive mixed berry garden and a small orchard.
All this is now supporting a healthy insect ecosystem.
