Waiheke Garden Festival: 11 & 12 November, 2017.

Waiheke is gearing up for the 2017 Waiheke Garden Festival, which takes place over the weekend of the 11th and 12th November - and this year sees a revamp promising much more for gardening enthusiasts and visitors.

Now in it’s 17th year, this annual spectacular, formerly named the Waiheke Garden Safari, is a ‘must-do’ in the island’s events calendar. This year, organisers have updated the festival to deliver a new and improved format, with eye-catching garden displays, as well as ‘how-to’ workshops and lectures from experts. A special Garden Party on Sunday, 12 November at Sacred Blessing Sanctuary featuring New Zealand gardening guru, Lynda Hallinan is a ‘must attend’ with canapes by Julie Biuso from Shared Kitchen.

We’re really excited with the new format for this year, which offers a more practical and educational focus for visitors.  Our experts are providing sessions on everything from garden design and bio-composting, to cut flower growing and even a gin distillation workshop.

New major sponsor Fullers ferry company will offer travel packages where you can order festival, ferry and on island transport options. Tickets for the Waiheke Garden Festival go on sale from 1 September and are available from

Gardens featuring in the festival will be open from 10am - 4pm on both days and the weekend kicks off with the annual Waiheke Art in the Garden Art Auction on Friday 10 November at the stunning Rorohara property at Pie Melon Bay.

The garden festival and art auction continue to be the primary fundraisers for the Jassy Dean Trust, and have so far raised more than $800,000 since 2000. The Trust provides much-needed financial assistance for Waiheke families and children who required urgent and ongoing healthcare. View Map
