Te Puna Quarry Park
We are raising funds through a Givealittle page to enable well known local carver, Morris Wharekawa, to create this wonderful work of art. Known as a kuwaha, the arched gateway will stand 3.45m tall across the track behind the Gallery leading into the native bush gully. It will be a meaningful and permanent connection between the land and its heritage. As the Quarry is on confiscated Maori land, our wish to acknowledge their ownership and participation is manifest.
$13,600 is our target for fundraising.
