Chiddingfold Garden has historic plantings dating from 1873 and newer plantings commencing 1936. An easy walking garden with a large native tree section, many roses, rock and bark gardens and an extensive selection of camellias flowering all winter. Chiddingfold includes an all year garden where visitors can walk the paddocks with a newly formed pond and damp area planted with New Zealand swamp varieties. You will enjoy a view of the lovely Waikato countryside.

The GardenerWe bought this property in 1976 after selling our sheep and cattle farm in Arohena, as we still wanted to live in the Country. The trees on the drive were the first attraction as well as the native tree patch, which was planted in 1950 along with the present house. There were also 100 roses and 40 camellias and we have extended this to a terraced garden adding more varieties of plants. We have also planted several more ever green trees in the paddocks as well as 6 varieties of magnolias both deciduous and ever green. We can now enjoy the autumn colours from our planting. We also planted thousands of daffodils on the drive, with many bucketfuls picked to sell on Daffodil day, so raising money for cancer research. We decided to open our garden for more people to enjoy, but bookings are only by arrangement. Please email or telephone.
Our lovely self contained annexe is apart from the main house and entirely private, new and modern. It has provided holidays for many people from all over the world. It is a self-contained one bedroom with queen-size bed, plus two divans in the sitting room, with kitchen. It also has a big separate bathroom. Laundry available in unit, TV
