Rockvale Stone and Garden

The Garden

The garden was created to display the Ornate Oamaru Limestone.

In 1992 the Wilson family decided to turn their pony field into a Garden Centre, open seven days a week, running for eight years.

The garden centre was run by Linda who also offered a Garden Design Service. The Garden has now evolved into a wonderful Wedding and Function venue. View Map

The Gardener

Working as an independent Garden Designer for eighteen years, Linda and the family created a garden centre on the property which Linda operated for nine years - seven days a week. The retail side of the business eventually fazed out; leaving the large formal garden as a venue for weddings and other functions. Linda is now busy with this exciting new textile venture, maintaining her garden, conducting quarry tours and arranging garden events. In addition, she has a long standing involvement in Stone sculpting Symposium for the town, and is running a self contained home-stay unit on the property. Linda and her husband Bob‘s home is situated in the sheep and crop fields surrounding their home at Parkside, North Otago. They have been living, working and have raised four beautiful children here over the last twenty-seven years. Bob is involved in running Parkside Limestone Quarries, also a major part of the property. These quarries supply agricultural lime from the on-site Parkside Limeworks and are the sole New Zealand suppliers of the renowned Oamaru building stone known as Oamaru Stone.

Here you will find quality hand-crafted NZ rugs inspired by New Zealand's natural environment and unique culture.

A floor is a wonderful display area for art work, and a rug can make or break a room, whether it graces the floor or a wall.

Linda's rugs are a unique slice of Kiwi culture - a practical art form which will be treasured for years. Choose one of her designs, or have her create one to your own specifications. Whether you keep it for yourself, or make it a gift to someone special, your rug will be a splendid addition to any room.

Our rugs are made of 100% New Zealand wool, spun by Summit Wool Spinners in Oamaru.

We also offer tours of Parkside Quarry, a family owned and operated business is well known for producing the high quality building material "Oamaru Stone"

The historic town of Oamaru offers unique historic lime stone buildings, little blue penguin viewing, great shopping, cafes and restaurants. November each year we have a Victorian fete as well as a very popular wine and food festival in February.
