The Garden

Ten years in the making, SAJJ Garden wraps around a 90's suburban house showcasing a sizeable assortment of bromeliads of all shapes, sizes and rarities tucked amongst a variety of mature palm trees and cyclads. Succulents, staghorn ferns, driftwood and airplants are also integrated into the garden. A 20 tonne driftwood is a focal piece at one side of the entrance. Bougainvillea and flowers around the property provide pops of colour among the sea of green and red.

Development of the garden commenced in 2007 with a section of lawn and concrete edgings making way for a pool complex and extensive buxus hedging. Changes were made over time to the original plantings, pavings, and decks to create SAJJ Garden that now exists.

The Gardener

Pas and Jim have a flare for creating practical and beautiful gardens. Pas has the green fingers and an eye for creating pleasing garden presentations. Jim Provides the basic building and design support for Pas' skills. Twice, Pas has been presented with the best garden award at previously owned properties located in the Manukau City (before it came to be part of Auckland City).

We are located near Howick in South East Auckland. The Mews runs off Whitford Road. Our garden is down a short shared drive way. For safety, keep to grass foot path.

The garden closes during winter. Opens October to March, from 9 am to 4 pm. Please call at least a day before any visit.
Garden Size
1200 sq m section, allow 1-2 hours for your visit. We welcome Garden Clubs, Social Clubs, Bus and Coach Tours.
Entry price $10 per person (price includes morning/afternoon tea)
We have on street parking for cars buses and coaches in a cul de sac. Garden is down short shared drive way. For safety, keep to grass foot path.
Toilet is available.
Under cover seating is available while everyone enjoys tea, coffee and light refreshments.
Wheelchair Access
Access friendly for elderly with smooth walkways and about six 10 cm steps.
Dogs Allowed
No dogs thank you.
Children Allowed
Yes but please supervise due to areas of exposed water.
Plants/Other Sales
Yes we have a bromeliad shop open to all visitors.
Guided Tours
Gardeners will be available to provide information as required.

 Fifteen minutes drive to Huntingwood Garden (Whitford) and we are 10-15 minutes from Pandora Gardens and 10 minutes to Photinia Gardens in Howick
