The Garden

Tikara Country Gardens is a two-hectare property down a long driveway planted with magnolias and olive trees. Situated on the eastern hills behind Carterton with stunning views overlooking the Tararua ranges and Ruamahunga River.

This garden has been developed since 2008 by Bruce and Mary, with further plantings still in progress.

The garden has more than 250 roses,300 red maples trees, irises, cherry blossom trees and much more. The striking 90-meter bund which is covered with arctotis daisy is a unique feature of the garden.

There are several cottage gardens with mass planting. A native bush area is being developed with a boardwalk. Also, a wonderful wooden staircase mass planted with carpet roses.

The great vegetable garden has six raised beds which supply family and friends.
